SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates daily activities of workers in all departments in the warehouse. Responsibilities include staffing, training, scheduling, receiving, processing, equipment maintenance and loss prevention. The Assistant Warehouse supervisor is a role model and leader and must solve problems, make informed decisions and manage the warehouse wisely in order to achieve maximum results. The position will require a later shift (1pm 9pm) during high peak season (Sep-Nov) in this role.

  1. Responsible for compliance with key accounts order management and shipping guidelines, i.e., routing instructions and shipping schedules. Communicates key account requirements to warehouse staff in pick/pack and shipping departments.
  2. Reports to the Expeditors any issues with back orders, credit blocks, and blocked orders to communicate back to customer service and the credit department.
  3. Runs daily reports to verify box counts on EDI Customer shipments.
  4. Reviews shipping notes, bills of lading, transfer orders, and deliveries to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet the picking, packing and shipping daily work schedule.
  5. Help solve problems that affect the service and productivity of the pick/pack and shipping areas.
  6. Promote and maintain safe and secure working environment by training staff on housekeeping procedures, safety and loss prevention procedures; ensuring safety and loss prevention policies and procedures are being carried out; advising management on needed actions or changes relating to pick/pack and/or shipping operations.
  7. Organizes and directs staging area and position of shipments with Warehouse and Shipping Supervisors.
  8. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.
  9. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies our vendor to schedule repairs.
  10. Assists Warehouse Supervisors in the recruitment and hiring of the most qualified applicants to meet the needs of the department. Ability to develop and train workforce, build relationships, utilize skills of workforce most appropriately. Maintains harmony among workers and resolves day to day warehouse issues.
  11. Prepares records of unfilled orders using the ZV2E report daily
  12. Forklift experience preferred but not required
  13. Ability to provide corrective action to employees
  14. Handles other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position supports the Warehouse supervision of all employees in the picking, packing, shipping and receiving areas. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting Warehouse Supervisors with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma; 7-10 years experience in a warehouse environment; previous supervisory experience required. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing. Should exhibit strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in a supervisory capacity. Results oriented; willingness to follow-through; make informed decisions and complete tasks.

COMPUTER SKILLS
Demonstrated use of advanced personal computer skills including email, Microsoft word, and excel. Experience with SAP, XPS and RF scanning equipment preferred.
