Domestic Operations Agent

Job Description

The Domestic Operations Agent assists the General Manager in the Domestic department with all aspects and the overall day-to-day operational function of domestic ground and air shipments. The Domestic Operations Agent will be supervised and assisted by the General Manager.

Essential Job Duties include but not limited to:
  • Quotes
    • Quotes Direct clients
    • Quotes overseas partners
    • Assists sales in quoting functions and bids
    • Ensures quotes are honored and are profitable
  • Shipment Processing
    • Arranges pick-ups with clients and agents
    • Determine best transportation routing
    • Ensure government regulations are met
    • Documentation prep including housebills and masterbills
    • Tracking and tracing shipments
    • Positive vendor relations
    • Fulfill oversize cargo requests and manage just in time delivery
    • View documents for potential dangerous goods transport
  • Accounting/auditing
    • Ensure shipments are profitable
    • Collect POD and Charges/close file
    • Work with accounting to audit invoices and correct if needed
    • Accurate and timely billing of clients
  • Sales Support
    • Work with Sales to develop business and assist in bid
    • Upsell other services Aeronet offers to client

Job Qualifications and Skills
  • High school diploma, GED certificate, or evidence of similar skills
  • Strong client service skills
  • Some experience in freight forwarding
  • Strong Skill set in challenge resolutions for shipments
  • Strong client service skills
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Knowledge of OAC guide and IATA terms for air and trucking shipments
  • Understanding of the forwarding industry
  • Familiarity with concepts involved in truckload shipments; FTL
  • Pass TSA testing
  • Ability to multi task and work in fast paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Basic understanding in MSWord, Excel, Outlook, PDF
  • Type 25WPS
  • Ability to work well in flexible, dynamic work environment
  • Proactive and self-starting team player
  • Sense of urgency in all things we do

  • Positive Attitude interacting with clients, vendors and associates
  • Quoting accurately to ensure no loss in margin to company and station
  • Follow system alerts and works proactively to verify shipments picked up and delivered on time per client expectations
  • Routing accuracy to ensure no additional cost to client from quote and no loss to company and station
  • Quick decision making based on company policy and tools
  • Evaluations of carriers to ensure performance and company requirements
  • Adheres Aeonet policy on shipment process. Ask questions if one is unsure of best process for client.

Physical Requirements
  • Physical
    • Must be able to remain stationary 80% of the day
    • Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery such as calculator, copier, and computer printer
    • Occasionally moves about office to access file cabinets and office machinery
    • Periodically moves or transports box items up to 20 pounds
    • Requires mathematical and analytical skills in developing and interpreting financial/data records. Ability to calculate cost with dimensions of shipment
    • Ability to effec¬tively communicate ideas to all levels of manage¬ment.
  • Working Conditions
    • Indoor office with minimal climate change or excessive noise
